While writing his PhD about cloud computing architecture, Michael co-founded carpooling.com and guided its journey to market leadership in the European countries and through a successful exit to BlaBlaCar in 2015. As a founding partner of eisbach partners, he currently focuses on defining and implementing strategies for digital business models and economies.

A co-founder of eisbach partners, Markus began his career in 2001 when he joined an internet startup called Yahoo!. After working with internet pioneers in Silicon Valley, Australia, and Singapore, and later becoming Chief Sales Officer of Yahoo! Australia, he returned to his home country, Germany, as CEO of carpooling.com.
